Day 5
Fly to Dalaman and drive
to Kalkan, a pretty seaside village of pastel-colored buildings.
Visit the ancient site of Patara and swim at the beach or relax
at the seaside café. Tonight, dine in an old olive oil
factory (now a local tavern), where we can sample rak (the national
drink of Turkey) and dance to live traditional music. Overnight
at hotel in Kalkan that overlooks the sea.
Day 6
Hands-on sea kayak orientation,
including a safety talk and equipment review. Warm-up paddle
from Kalkan to Frnazlar Bay, one of the most beautiful in the
Mediterranean with deep turquoise waters, a small beach, and
ruins of a fisherman's hut along the shore. Hike a secret trail
to a Roman aqueduct, then enjoy a picnic lunch under olive trees,
swim, snorkel, and explore the bay. Late afternoon return to
Kalkan to wander the narrow streets and have a sunset drink at
a terrace café --a Kalkan classic.
